Our New York City office is looking for a Director of Permitting who embodies this purpose.

 

What You'll Do:

 

As a Permitting Director at Bohler, you will:

  • Oversees the Permitting Department with a focus on technical oversight, financial management and staff development
  • Provides leadership and mentoring to staff, clearly outlines goals and objectives, provides continuous feedback and communication, identifies professional growth opportunities, motivates staff, minimizes turnover of resources, continuously monitors and manages staff expectations and provides vision, develops the next level for progression
  • Follows protocols in place allowing for the successful Financial and Contract Management of projects
  • Financial management of projects including budgeting, profit evaluations, staff utilization and A/R collections
  • Develop and execute permitting strategies and policies to secure all necessary federal, state, and local approvals in a timely manner
  • Build effective relationships with internal team members and work to evolve the permitting line of business
  • Manage and effectively delegate to the permitting team, assigning tasks and reviewing the scope and quality of work product
  • Ability to compromise, handle conflict, seek common ground, articulate own and other's goals, stays focused on a positive outcome; escalates issues to the appropriate authority level
  • Ensure proper communication and collaboration across civil teams and permitting for the most efficient outcome of projects
  • Develops/maintains ways in which information is organized and accessible, maintains efficient workspace, manages time well
  • Manages workload, works efficiently, meets goals and objectives (deadlines and budgets)
  • Works to uphold and enhance the Organization's reputation through the performance of their work
  • Seeks opportunities to make improvements in the process and provide guidance and assistance to improve the performance of others

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelors degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of experience in managing a large team
  • AEC industry experience preferred
  • Experience permitting in the NYC metropolitan area preferred
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, analytical and planning abilities, and good judgement
  • Self-starter, takes initiative and is proactive
  • Strives to understand contributing factors, works to resolve complex situations
  • The ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects simultaneously
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Experience working with permitting specialists, regulators, project managers, environmental lawyers, scientists, planners, engineers, and contractors
  • The ability to work as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and field questions from internal team members
  • An exceptionally strong work ethic and professional demeanor
  • Candidates for this position will be motivated self-starters who can work both independently, and as part of a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams is required

Salary $156,000-$305,000. Total compensation will be determined by other considerations such as experience, qualifications and educational background. This position is eligible for potential annual bonus earnings.
