  • Responsibilities

    • Strategic and tactical involvement in all aspects of Technical Training & Learning and Development for the Firm.
    • Program Development
      • Provides program design, planning and oversight for Technical Training programs.
      • Establishes consistent and scalable technical learning solutions Firm-Wide.
      • Determines training objectives by conducting analysis of overall needs assessments and specific skills or knowledge gaps in partnership with the L&D team and all key leadership/subject matter experts.
      • Assesses current state of Technical Training Firm-Wide and makes recommendations for consistent approach.
      • Creates Technical competency framework and curriculum for specific job roles. (i.e. DE, Sr. DE, etc.)
        • Fosters competency development and growth of employees based on business needs as well as organization focus areas.
    • Program Implementation
      • Establishes and builds relationships with Training leads in each Region.
      • Liaises with Training leads in roll-out of Technical Training Programs.
      • Executes training programs within budget.
      • Maintains external technical training vendor relationships as applicable.
    • Ongoing Program Monitoring
      • Ensures training is recorded in employee’s talent record utilizing Firm HRIS system or other tracking mechanism.
      • Establishes processes to monitor results of training and collect feedback to determine effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
      • Communicates learning initiatives and statistics to key leadership and internal L&D team.
      • Responsible for managing Continuing Education Credits in coordination with Training Leads in each Region.
      • Establishes a process of how to maximize CPE’s across the firm in partnership with Associate group.
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned.


    • Highly knowledgeable of technology software and digital technologies.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field.
    • 7+ years’ experience in L&D preferred, or relevant business experience.
    • Experience designing and delivering technical training in a Civil Engineering Environment.
    • Land development experience (residential/subdivision and commercial) including: roadway design; hydrology, hydraulics, drainage conveyance, and related software; grading and utility design, permitting, storm water management.
    • Other Technical knowledge of: water infrastructure, AutoCAD, horizontal geometry, Geotech design, conceptual layout, road design, civil 3D, boundary law, erosion control, jurisdictional requirements, project management, pressure pipe design, qc plans.
    • Technical Training/Learning Management experience in professional services, preferably an engineering environment.
    • Experience managing multiple training initiatives.
    • Experience developing and implementing departmental technical goals and strategies based on broader organization goals.
    • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environment with changing initiatives, direction, and strategy, flexible.
    • Ability to prioritize, manage and complete projects with tight deadlines.
    • Ability to manage ambiguity, i.e. thrives in a creative non-structured ‘start up environment’.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • 30% of Travel required.
